More Than Half of Men Now Use Moisturizer

And that’s just on their faces. When it comes to hands, nearly two thirds of guys are taking proper care of them.

We’ve known for some time that grooming habits are changing—your grandad, in fact, probably wouldn’t even recognize most of your bathroom routine. With more and more guys taking their grooming cues from YouTube rather than their dads, moisturizer has become far more mainstream for men, as reflected in a recent survey we conducted. 54% of the men we talked to told us that they use moisturizer on their faces at least somewhat regularly, with nearly a quarter stating that it’s a standard part of their daily routine.

When we asked about using moisturizer on their hands, the numbers were even higher, with nearly two thirds of respondents stating they used it at least once a week, and 28% saying they use it at least once a day.

This shouldn’t be even vaguely surprising, of course. While moisturizer used to be the province of moms and big sisters (or jokes about jars of bedside hand cream), it’s an essential part of keeping skin looking good, and as a guy, who doesn’t want to look good? Everything from sunlight to the bubbles in your shower gel can wreck your skin, so it just makes sense to do everything you can to protect it.If you want to be sure you’re using it right, here’s our handy guide to the best way to moisturize your face.
